The company was founded by Will Howard in California, in 1993. Initially a surf and snowboard sunglass manufacturer, Dragon has quickly grown into a sport-driven lifestyle brand famous for its product innovation, cutting-edge approaches and latest technologies. The company is still based in San Clemente, California, and focuses on potential technical breakthroughs and progressively designed eyewear. Its impressive product line includes everything from snow goggles and day-to-day optical frames to upcycled, plant-based sunglasses and floatable spectacles.

Today, Dragon is a worldwide leader in high-end eyewear, which is now distributed in over 50 countries. It is a sustainable company that continues to not only to puss the issue of pollution, but move with the times providing more environmentally- conscious products. In the fall of 2019, Dragon launched its eco-friendly, Plant-Based Resin collection of eyewear made from sustainably grown castor beans; and in the spring of 2020 the company released the Upcycled Collection that includes 3 pair of unisex ophthalmic styles and 3 pair of unisex sunglasses all manufactured through the cutting-edge method where 5 recycled plastic water bottles are reconditioned, or “upcycled” into a frame.
