It's one of the most effortless ways of making a statement and attracting attention with a large, dramatic look. The oversized eyeglasses have a long history stretching back to the 1920s, the time of rapid fashion and cultural evolution after the war. New materials, such as chiffon and the rise of jersey, encouraged the designers to experiment with bold, exaggerated silhouettes. The same spirit of experimentation gave birth to the first oversized accessories, and the oversized eyeglasses very soon became the gloriously captivating trend. Pictures of large-frame styles began circulating in magazines, movies, and street fashion, slowly turning into the expression of freedom, glamor, and artistic experimentation.

But by the 1960s, there's a whole different name for oversized fashion. Flow, jewellery statement, accessories and now-the largest top on the block is the statement oversized glasses. The most clumsy frames were worn first by celebrities and public figures. Most often they projected great confidence and individuality. "I am not afraid to stand out." And today, oversized prescription eyeglasses and oversized sunglasses have been around in just as much vogue. They're flattering to most face shapes and instantly give character to any outfit, being every celebrity and fashionista's more favorite means of making a statement about their personality and staying in-the-know.
