The history of the Smith Optics began in 1965 when alpine ski aficionado Bob Smith developed the first breathable vent foam goggles that do not fog up. Today the brand specializes in the production of sports, sunglasses and optical glasses, ski masks, bicycle and motorcycle helmets, as well as accessories for various sports and leisure.

Smith is part of the Italian Safilo Group and is known for its innovations, including interchangeable lenses for sunglasses invented in 1995. This technology now gives the wearer more versatility no matter the weather. The brand's glasses are high-tech, for their production, elastic materials of the brand's own design are used, such as Rilsan Clear and Grilamid TR90, which guarantee long-term operation and resistance to mechanical damage, as well as a perfect fit.
